Schoop's Hamburgers

I've only had one burger in my whole life that was better than a Schoop's burger, and I think that restaurant went out of business. Schoop's is quite simply the gold standard of burgers. The "Mickey" (one patty, two slices of cheese) is phenomenal. I have no idea how anyone can finish a double burger. A single is enormous. Fries are perfection also.

This is a wonderful establishment straight out of the 50s. The burgers are huge, and have crunchy edges. I can't prove it, but the Coke here tastes so much better than what you get in stores. The service at this location is pretty good. Took a little longer to get my food here compared with the Valparaiso location. This is a great place for a quick bite to eat that is very satisfying.

Every single one of these have been exceptional. From Portage to Griffith each and every one has went above and beyond. I will have to say this one is the absolute nicest one we have visited. The wonderful thing is the good, service, prices, and cleanliness are always the same no matter which one it is. But this one is “prettier” inside. I love the way they all seem to have the really cool looking stools and feel of the fifties. I can’t say enough nice things about this place! Thanks for always making our visits awesome.

This place had great service, a wonderful atmosphere, and delicious food. Hubby and I both had the double cheeseburgers, with fries. Fabulous, and perfectly cooked to order.

I have eaten here for years, I was upset because the 5$ onion rings where ice cold!!!!!!, I treat myself to their onion rings like once every 6 months!!’ I’ve worked in kitchens, onion rings do not get like that in 5 min,, it takes time for the grease to separate from the onion rings… these where COLD and DRY… The owner told me it was impossible, I’m wrong they were not cold!!!!! What kind of crappy costumer service? I wasn’t asking for anything, Soooo sad!!! 25$ for cold old food and blame! !!!!! And not even getting rung out, lady says “you owe us 25$” and left with out offering a receipt.
