Sapore Italiano

Sapore Italiano is set in a beautiful old home, with both indoor and outdoor dining options. The setting is lovely—especially with the flowers outside—and you can tell they take pride in caring for the place. Reservations are highly recommended, as it gets very busy (and can be quite loud). We were seated at 5:50pm, but unfortunately didn’t get our food until around 7:10pm—nearly an hour and a half later. They do note that everything is made from scratch, which we appreciate, but the wait felt excessive. At least the bread kept us occupied. When the food finally arrived, it was generous, authentic, and delicious—enough to make up for the delay. Overall, I’d give them 4 stars right now. For my father-in-law's 80th birthday celebration, we chose Sapore Italiano Restaurant, and I'm so glad we did. Stepping into the restaurant felt like entering a welcoming, older home, complete with two floors and charming private rooms. Our group of 24 comfortably settled into one of these private spaces on the second floor. What truly stood out was the impeccable service. Our waitress and the entire staff handled our large party with impressive courtesy and attentiveness throughout the evening. We started with fantastic warm bread and a very fresh, flavorful Caesar salad. My chicken Parmesan was enjoyable, though it could have used a pinch more salt. A minor snag was all three of our table salt shakers were clogged and clumpy, but, resolved by our waitress offering a new one. To cap off

The vodka sauce was great. Some of the guests at our table did not like their meal. Not sure that I would go back, I think there are many Great places in Cape May that I would choose over this place.

The food was amazing. I had chicken parmesan and my wife had the chicken special for that day. Both were amazing. Was able to sit on the porch and have a nice summer evening outside eating. It is BYOB so make sure to bring your wine with you.

This is our go-to spot for casual old-school Italian dining. The food is absolutely New York-style, and the atmosphere is fair and suitable for Cape May. I understand that during the summer, wait time can be challenging as they are extremely busy, but the service is usually pretty speedy and the food comes out fast during other times. This is definitely our go-to place if you want to have something delicious, and if you’re used to eating in New York City, this is reasonably priced.
