Highland House

Wife and I go down to Cape May 4-5 times a year from Central Jersey. Spent the night at Highland House for our wedding anniversary for our first visit to the property. Dave even called the day before to advise that we could check in earlier than scheduled if we needed to. We were both thoroughly impressed by its charm and the hospitality provided by Dave upon arrival. We were even greeted by his super adorable and friendly pup, Toffee. The property is pet friendly and you can tell the joy that the animals bring to Dave despite my wife and I not checking it without a pet. Our room, which was Green Room IV, was extremely cozy and well prepped that included access to a front and rear balcony with ample space and seating to enjoy a cozy night outside the room. We had a wonderful few days in the Blue and Burgundy rooms. Our pup has anxiety and even though she howled our first day-we were welcomed. Our rooms were lovely, clean, and cool even though there was a heat wave making outside feel like 107. We loved the decks off of our rooms and how quaint and thoughtfully decorated the property was. We would absolutely stay again!

David seemed like a genuinely nice person. We appreciated the fact that we were able to bring our dog. The location was phenomenal and close to town so we were able to walk which was nice. We arrived early, however David did make the time to provide our room keys. Although we were a few hours early. We went into town and came back and attempted to locate him to make sure he was aware that we would not be staying for breakfast in the morning. We called out, could hear his dog but were never able to locate him. The cleanliness of the rooms left something to be desired. Lots of knick-knacks and dust. The towels were well worn as were the sheets. We opted out of showers due to the less than white towels. The stairway was poorly lit when we returned to our rooms in the evening. Light fixture

We’ve been coming for years. Our dog Buzz (and us) loves it. Great location. Great breakfast. Comfortable rooms that feel like true Cape May. Wonderful cafe’s and restaurants in walking distance.

What a wonderful stay and beautiful house! Dave had everything decorated beautifully for the holiday and made very delicious breakfasts. His helper Toffee was cute as pie and an added bonus. Our dog is our favorite travel companion but does not love other dogs so we were a little worried. Dave made us feel welcome anyways and helped us navigate around all the dogs in the house. It is the perfect location to everything.
