Rita's Italian Ice & Frozen Custard

Custard is awesome – somehow warmer than ice cream without losing its form – a bit like whipped butter with sugar… in a good, not greasy, way. And, of course the Italian ice is always on point. The walk up stand with outside seating is a summertime must - great family experience, chance to hang out with friends, or give yourself how much deserved solo treat.

It’s water ice! What’s not to love! Lemon 🍋 is always a family summer favorite! Also had Swedish fish flavor.

I had this tonight for the first time. The Italian ice was very disappointing. The mango tasted more like a very water down orange. Barely flavor. And the blue raspberry was very water down can barely taste it. The frosty strawberry drink was the best thing I ever had though. I couldnt believe it was even made in the same place. They need to work on the Italian ice flavors. But that strawberry drink will bring me back and hopefully the quality improves with the Italian ice.

Perfect little treat after our walk at Palmetto Trail: Capital City Passage. Just a couple blocks away we arrive at Rita’s Italian Ice.

Delicious frozen custard and other sweet treats. Friendly service. Very convenient location in the heart of downtown Columbia, with plenty of outdoor seating.
