Rigoberto's Mexican Food

Fantastic place for delicious homestyle Mexican food made fresh to order. Relaxed grandma’s kitchen atmosphere with decent amount of seating. Loved the chicken chimichanga plate especially as the portion is enough for two. Carne asada fries also tasty and again generously portioned. Highly recommend for comforting Mexican food in the area.

I had a craving for chile rellenos but was in a hurry to finish holiday errands so I didn’t want to go to a big restaurant and wait for a takeout, so I thought I’d try Rigoberto’s which is basically a fast-food restaurant though there is seating for those who want to stay to eat. The “sides” menu had an offering of two chile rellenos, which was all I wanted and it was only $10 and change after taxes. What a great surprise when I opened it at home! Not only were there two delicious chile rellenos, there was a generous serving of sour cream, guacamole, and an awesome pico de gallo. Plus there were two large tortillas for dipping into the three condiments with plenty left for the chile rellenos. I guess I let the glowing reviews get to me, but I was very disappointed. Ordered bean and cheese burrito. Person taking me order was very surly. Tea dispenser was empty and did not seem to offer sweet tea. Burrito came pretty quickly, and was a good size. The tortilla tasted burnt, it looked only nicely grilled, but tasted burnt. The beans were only warm, not even hot enough to have melted the cheese. Very, very bland tasting. The plastic fork and knife could barely cut into the burrito. Just my opinion, but I won't be back.

Folk are always walking in, waiting, and placing orders. It goes by quickly. My vegan burrito was a good size, a mix of hot rice, beans and cool salad, salsa, and guacamole wrapped. The hibiscus tea was excellent. They let me taste a little of horchata and the tamarind drink before choosing. Smaller place, I left as it was getting busier. Diverse range of locals, families, workers, all ages. They were closing at 2 pm that Sunday. Remember to help yourself to the salsas for your order. Definitely authentic Mexican food. Enjoy!

The best breakfast and carnitas burritos in SOAZ. While everyone else has lost their minds with crazy high prices, this pace is still delivering value. They haven’t skimped on the meats or cheeses, salsas and pico are delicious. I come at least once a week.
