Welcoming and friendly customer service. I managed to meet with the owner during our visit. Easy to read menu. Reasonable prices. Tasty puff puff and good portion sizes. Authentic takeout serving authentic Nigerian cuisine.

I ordered gbegiri and amala from here and it was terrible. The stew was a strange, off-colored mash with no separation—no visible layers of gbegiri, ewedu, or stew the way it’s supposed to be, and barely any ewedu at all. It didn’t even resemble the dish. I grew up in Lagos eating this meal and regularly ordered from Platinum Amala (before the downtown Silver Spring location closed), so I know exactly how it should look and taste. I’ve ordered from Rhuth African before and genuinely thought they gave me the wrong dish because what I received looked nothing like gbegiri, ewedu, or stew in any form. I gave them another chance a few weeks later, and it was still just as bad. At this point, it’s clear they do not know how to properly prepare gbegiri and ewedu. Completely unacceptable and a

Drove over 30 min away just for him to say they didn’t have the fried spinach, when I told him I was on the way! Walked in here, food not ready. Now he says sorry we don’t have. Unprofessional! Update: Response to owner Thank you for responding, however it should have been told to me on the phone before driving way out there. I asked if the container was circular or square, because photos are showing both. He kept saying black container. How am I supposed to know as a NEW customer that just moved from out of state, that the fried spinach is just for catering? I went to Roger Miller restaurant around the corner and they were VERY professional and I told them my experience here. The owner’s wife spoke to with me also and made fried spinach for me at their establishment and it was good! Ple

This is a must stop for our family anytime we’re in the DMV. The customer service is amazing and this restaurant saves me time and sanity. They’ve even helped coordinate delivery to my hotel when I was in town for a work event. I no longer spend hours in the kitchen cooking soups and baking meat pies and sausage rolls for my Nigerian hubby. I simply call ahead and place my bulk order. Rhuth’s kitchen tastes so much like my hubby’s mom’s home cooking that he’s just as happy. Bonus- he appreciates me having the time back to spend with him while our whole family enjoys. We freeze a portion of the soups and pastries and bring out as needed. It’s a win-win for me.

Right, listen here, I’m absolutely livid. I went to Ruth’s African Kitchen in Wheaton, Maryland, the very day after my bloody birthday expecting something vibrant, authentic, a bit of culinary brilliance, yeah? Instead, what I got was nothing short of a catastrophic let-down. The two women at the counter had the audacity, the sheer effrontery, to lie straight to my face when I said, “I like it spicy, make it properly spicy.” And what do I get? A dish seasoned for toddlers, comfort spice, barely a tickle on the tongue. They clearly hadn’t the faintest clue what the assignment was. Now, moving on to the second crime. I ordered goat egusi, simple instruction, yeah? Goat. Yet when I opened that takeaway box, I was confronted by, good heavens, chicken feet! Bits of unidentifiable protein floati
