Restaurant at Big Sur River Inn

Loved the ambience at the Restaurant at Big Sur River Inn — very well organized, clean, and the view of the river is absolutely beautiful. It’s a great place to just sit back and relax. I tried the vegan burger and it was nice. The food overall wasn’t mind-blowing, but definitely good enough to enjoy the experience and I’d visit again for the setting and vibe alone.

The location is beautifully situated on the Big Sur River with a lot of frontage. From the restaurant we got river view, dog friendly seating outside. The tri tip sandwich was tasty and the fried onions on it added a nice flavor and crunch. The au jus was good, but also didn’t seem that necessary for this already juicy sandwich. The grilled veggie salad was also good although I was a bit surprised to find the grilled veggies were cold/chilled. Note that you may also go to the general store and buy to go food to take down to the riverside where you can sit in a chair in the river.

An absolutely beautiful area. Wow. We did not stay here for our trip, but man did we want to come back to stay here. It looks great. The river chairs, come on now! Sounds like a dream. We did stop by the store to get some souvenirs and, the staff was helpful with information. Their sand sculpture was cool. We went over to the gas station just to check out the tiny islands, but we found awesome ice cream. A cool roadside spot if you are driving through, or seemingly a really awesome spot to spend a day or two. The restaurant also seemed to have delicious smells.

Last Sunday at Big Sur River Inn Restaurant, I had such a wonderful lunch while enjoying the live band performance. The band invited the audience to join and sing along, so I happily took part and had so much fun! Great location and a rustic, cabin-like building with a lot tables inside, an outside patio, and the Pacific never gets old. Hard to judge the service as the place was not busy, but it was friendly and professional. A lot of choices on the menu, particularly for breakfast.
