This is such a missed opportunity. The lobby is cozy, but the restaurant feels utilitarian, cold, empty, and uncomfortable. I am staying here for 4 nights and will not be back for any meal - that's how sad this is. It feels more like a high school cafeteria's seating than a lodge restaurant. Add to it a group of screaming children running around and it is awful - parents please control your offspring, this isn't a playground, there is a whole forest out there where they can scream their heads off. Even the view of the river is ruined - they have a beautiful bridge and river, and decided to give us a view of a fence and some storage instead. What are you doing Big Sur Lodge? Try to care more. The staff at the coffee shop counter were very nice, no table service for lunch in the restaurant.
Food was surprisingly good for a lodge! The short rib taco was amazing, the meat melts in your mouth and the guac was also super flavorful Beer battered onion rings weee also super yummy esp when freshly fried Service was also real good, we loved Annie and Dora (super friendly and cute Taiwanese girl!!!!
The food was good, the waitress was super nice, the place was comfortable and best part is the proximity to all the action. Loved the awesome view of the redwoods outdoors. Would definitely come back whenever in the area.
Went here to try a different eatery than the one near our motel. Firstly we were seated promptly and the wait staff came and took our orders right away. My spouse got the mahi mahi tacos and I got the clam chowder in a sourdough bowl. The tacos were good, light and tasty and had a good melding of flavors. The clam chowder was loaded with bacon which was good but it over powered everything else in the chowder. I still ate it all and the bread bowl though. We decided to end our meal with the beignet. It was quite a bit of a wait for them but they arrived looking golden brown dusted with powdered sugar. The first bite was great until we got to the middle that had some uncooked dough in both of pieces. We brought this to the attention of our waiter who looked perplexed and said that he's nev
The buffalo cauliflower bites, beer-battered fries, and burger were all good. The orange chicken salad was big and good; only remark was they forgot to dress it. Our waitress was clearly inexperienced but that just made it adorable. The atmosphere of the Lodge, taken as a whole, with the lobby, gift area, trails is great. The outdoor river side dining is nice. Bars inside and out. Drinks were reasonably priced but the prices of the food offset that.
