Update 4 months later: since dining in several months ago I now order the beef siga through DoorDash when I crave Ethiopian. I’m still VERY HAPPY with the food! Eat in or have it delivered; it’s delicious! The Red Sea Cafe is an excellent Ethiopian restaurant in a fantastic ice cream shop, the South Street Creamery! The three of us started with the tomato dip with injera chips and shared the injera plate with eggplant, beef siga, and chicken (this comes with greens and cabbage). If you haven’t had Ethiopian, injera is a soft bread served with stewed foods on top. You eat the different stews using the injera as a base to grab the stew with you hands. We always seem to want a second serving of injera when we eat Ethiopian so we eat every part of the meal to the last drop when the food is
This place is awesome! The food is absolutely delicious and everything is so flavorful and fresh. The service is super friendly and attentive. The owner/chef is very engaged and hyper focused on food quality and overall experience. We will be regulars!
I went to Red Sea Café today to try something new. The food was delicious. The owner cooked and brought us the food herself and was happy to share about the traditional Eritrea/Ethiopian cuisine. The chicken and beef dish we shared was served with injera which is a nice fermented (gluten free) bread. Everything was delicious and we would definitely go again to try other dishes. The flavor was something I have not had before!
I was looking for Ethiopian food and was surprised to find this hidden gem alongside an ice cream shop. The food was amazing!!! Every separate serving on the injera bread was excellent. Everything was seasoned perfectly with just the right amount of spice. The owner who made the food greeted us kindly and was so gracious. One of the best meals I’ve had in all of Jersey.
Delicious food! So comforting and tasty! Had the chicken and love the crepe- forgive my ignorance in the name. Got a bottle of wine across the street and really enjoyed it
