Public Library of Camden & Ouachita County

Many of the books have no library tags on the spine, resulting in difficulty locating the books. Printing is expense and no color. No online portal to reserve or renew loans. Very little programs offered (if any). Head staff is rude and make no effort to help you, but there’s always a younger person at the counter too and I have always found that person to be helpful. I love libraries and have travelled the world extensively, living all over and this is honestly hands down the worst library I have ever been a member of. It’s a shame, really as this little library has so much potential. Since moving to Camden I have had to use more digital and audio books (which I don’t prefer) because this library is so disappointing.

After having my first child, I recently tried to begin to read more often like I did in high school. I have to bring my one and a half year-old every time I come to the library and I’m always nervous that she will disturb the staff. I’ve been pleasantly surprised at how kind they have been, even at the times that I felt that my baby was being too disruptive. They even offered her a little temporary tattoo the last time we visited. I am relieved to know that they understand the way it is with small children and I am happy to have a library nearby with such a wide selection of books and such friendly staff :)

Not a good place for kids. Very small children's corner, no story time/ kids activities. The stuffiest library I've ever been to. If you have kids and want them to enjoy reading, you better be able to afford lots of books or drive to El Dorado. The El Dorado library is MUCH better!
