Palmira Barbecue

Full disclosure, I’m a pitmaster and former competitor, so I have very high standards. I love smoked meats and great restaurants that produce quality meats AND sides. However, having said that, this was my first time trying beef cheeks. All the hype, I had to try ‘em. Savory! Almost too savory if that’s believable. Beef cheeks have a lot of marbling and collagen; the bark was unbelievably consistent. The brisket was spot on. The pulled pork was moist with plenty of pit smoke flavor. If you’re into BBQ sauces, they have one - it has an Old Bay Seasoning flavor that would be perfect on poultry. The collards were some of the best I’ve ever had, full of flavor and not too salty. We drove from Charlotte, NC just to visit Palmira Barbecue that we saw on Instagram. This was the best experience ever! When we arrived the line was out the door but it didn’t matter people waited with JOY and the staff has a flawless system that moved the line quickly. Now let’s talk about the food 🙌🏽 Excellent we had a spread and it was all good especially those Puerto Rican rice and peas and that bread pudding that had us craving for more the next day!!

Never in my life had I EVER had beef cheeks!!! But man was they delicious!!!! Like brisket and roast had a baby! Mouth watering goodness!!!!!! The sausage was good too. 😊 Update!!!!!! We came back twice more during our visit and brought friends along the last day we were here. This place is now their favorite place to eat bbq as well!!!! They were as blown away as we were!

A nice twist on traditional Southern BBQ that adds creativity and flavor without losing the central core. The macaroni and cheese was the best I have had in Charleston.

Hands down best barbecue I have had in my life. I’ve never tried beef cheeks before and it was so tender and flavorful. I was genuinely shocked at how amazing everything was. The main favorites from this order was the beef rib and beef cheeks. The hash and rice was really good, very different and I didn’t expect the sweet flavoring but was surprisingly my favorite side. The Mac n cheese was also one of the best I’ve had.
