Oxbow Beer Garden

Heaven on earth. It probably helped that the conditions were incredible. We rented XC skis - we booked online the day before and got the last skis in our sizes. Arrived around 11 and the front parking lot was full, but the upper lot had plenty of space. We skied around for an hour or so then skied out to the hut. There were fires to gather around, drinks (beer, hot beverages, water, etc), and lots of seating. Kids running around, lots of dogs. It was a great way to spend an afternoon. We skied a little more (all trails pretty flat, great for beginners). We finished up with a pizza ($22) and another beer (~$8 ea) at the restaurant.

I have never been to an Oxbow location and only recently tried some of their beer. I thought I wasn’t love with their beer before I even went to the Beer garden but I’m over the moon in love now! The beer was so fresh and spot on, while drinking the beer in that kind of setting made it so much more enjoyable. Their pizzas were phenomenal and the takeout choices were extensive. I hope to be back again soon and maybe even stop by the original farmhouse location. We brought the dogs along and they were welcome and the place appeared to be dog friendly (outdoors).

We met friends while driving through the area. It seems like a great place with a lot going on so I look forward to going back. The pizza was really good. I wish they had a vegan cheese but with a small menu I totally get it. Their vegan pizza with no cheese was still delicious. The staff was really friendly. Looking forward to going back.

This is one of my favorite places! I love the variety of seating options. I usually cozy up to the bar, but also love that you can come with groups of various sizes and choose your own adventure (upstairs loft, downstairs table, outdoor patio, outdoor tables, etc). The tile and color always make me feel so happy. Staff is always A+++. Super kind, helpful, chatty if you are there on a slower night. Always treated like a friend even if we've never met. Food is amazing. The menu is small but mighty. My go-to order is the kale caesar salad (the dressing is amazing, the kale is fresh and massaged soft every time, and I would eat the croutons on their own), fried artichokes (they have changed people's entire opinions on artichokes) and a mushroom pie. The best place to xc ski! Free trails and affordable rentals from Portland Gear Hub if you need xc skis or snow shoes. Take the beautiful wooded trails about a mile out to The Hut and have a beer around the fire. There’s a bathroom out there and it’s kid and dog friendly. When you get back to the parking area, pop into the restaurant for a beer and a delicious wood fired pizza. The food is amazing, staff are friendly, atmosphere is perfect. What else could you want? It’s one of those special places in Maine that make our state so lovely. Thanks to Oxbow for keeping the trails free and beautifully groomed for the public!!
