Osteria La Civetta

Our winter visit to Osteria La Civetta, in Falmouth MA was such a nice experience. I imagine it is completely different from its summer personality! The atmosphere is where this place immediately shines—it is incredibly quaint, cozy, and cool. Our dimly lit table was surrounded by dark wood shelving stocked with endless wine bottles, antique copper pots, and a massive, classic red meat slicer, all illuminated by dozens of flickering candles. It's the perfect rustic retreat for a cold evening. We kicked things off with Lemon Drops and the Tagliere ($26), which was a massive and generous platter. I have been trying to get here for the $29 weekend special lasagna for over a year. Came in on Saturday in between lunch and dinner- we were the only people in the place. My kid loved their pasta dish! I unfortunately was served Luke warm/cold lasagna. When I told the waitress she did offer to reheat it but I didn’t see the point. The damage was done. The year long wait was ended and ruined….again we were the only people in the place!! I did eat 1/2 of it, did not want to take it home, they did take it off the bill for me. I don’t see a need to return.

Wonderful, authentic Italian food- full of flavor and freshness! Jordan- you steered me in the right direction from drinks to entree, and great attention to service. Excellent experience all around.

Update 2024: excited to come back this summer again and it was delicious! Last year the olives in the salad were the same castlevetrano and this year they were not which was disappointing. I was also able to switch pasta for the pomodoro dish as I get sick of only spaghetti. The rigatoni was delish! My partner was so looking forward to their basil pesto dish again but unfortunately they switched it to a sun dried tomato pesto, which was delicious and creamy, but not as good as the basil pesto. Another couple nearby also said they were disappointed the basil pesto was not available as well. Please bring back! Also, please put some gliders on the outdoor chairs as the scraping across the stone floor on the patio was so annoying; the noise is overwhelming when it’s full of people out there. O

Lovely restaurant in downtown Falmouth. Tried the buratta and the bolognese. And finished with an interesting dessert special. The bolognese was tasty but could have used a larger portion. Great serf
