Customer Reviews
Norbu in Cooperstown delivers a wonderfully flavorful, elevated take on Indian and Himalayan cuisine with warm, welcoming hospitality that makes the meal feel special from start to finish. Portions are satisfying, with plenty of options for vegetarians and vegans, so it is easy to share several dishes around the table. The dining room has a cozy Main Street feel that fits Cooperstown perfectly, combining a relaxed small‑town vibe with the polish of a destination restaurant. For anyone in Cooperstown looking for something distinctive, flavorful, and thoughtfully prepared, Norbu is an easy place to recommend and a spot worth returning to often.
The only reason I’m giving two stars is because of our friendly server and the ambiance of this place. The food is hugely overpriced. First of all, the quantity of the food vs its price is so abnormal. Secondly, nothing is spicy at all; even the spicy curry is mild at best. We ordered Chicken, Garlic Naan, and Honey Chilli Appetizer. No dish was extraordinary, unfortunately. If we were paying the normal amount for such a quantity, then it would have been fine, but I’m genuinely disappointed.
Both my wife and I enjoyed a nice lunch. The Indian food was excellent - tasty and not too spicey. My wife had the Honey Chili Fries appetizer and Chicken Sliders entree - both of which she liked. The sliders had the best buns she had in a very long time. I had the lunch special with Papri Chaat appetizer (kind of like a Indian version of a Chinese spring roll) and the Malabar with Lamb. Again, both were excellent and not too spicy. The decor is well done Indian. The service was excellent with one small mistake - the waiter forgot my wife's wine and had to be reminded.
We had dinner at Norbu before visiting Glimmer Nights at Fenimore Farms. I had been a few years ago and ordered dumplings to go. We were pleasantly surprised to find a new entrance and it's now a full on restaurant. Cooperstown is pretty much seasonal so we were also surprised to see a steady flow of diners. We ordered a chicken dish with mangos and a shrimp appetizer, rice, rosemary naan, and glasses of wine. Our servers were friendly, professional, prompt, and accurate. I'd like to return and try one of everything!
We stopped by this restaurant when we were visiting Cooperstown. It did not disappoint. The restaurant is cute and the food is great too. We loved the biryani. Will visit again for sure.
