New Lenox Public Library District

I've been coming here for years and I love it! I live in an unincorporated area between New Lenox, Lockport, and Joliet and chose to pay to be a member of this library. It's so worth it. The staff is super friendly and helpful, the events are high quality, and it's a place of peace, joy, and knowledge for me and my kids. I've been to plenty of libraries across Illinois, and this one is my absolute favorite. As a professional writer, I'm not just a book lover, I need reliable resources. My only gripe is that they don't carry more classics. Legends like Edgar Allen Poe and Ray Bradbury shouldn't be hidden away, sharing shelves with Daniel Steele. I'd love to see a section for the most notable and / or award-winning authors in history in both the kids and adult sections.

We wanted to start a Mahjong group. Messages were not returned. Finally after several calls & messages left, Kelly Jean answered the phone. She was given dates and times but we never heard back. Staffing issues are what she mentioned being a problem. Meanwhile, we found a very friendly Park District who immediately met our needs. We were sad to find our library incapable of honoring our request.

Thank you for hosting interior designer Carla Gentle and her "Room Makeover: Redesign Your Space on a Budget" course. I picked up a lot of tips, then won the raffle for a free room makeover. Carla came over, moved chairs and a bookcase, then highlighted cherished items .. our space is airier, cozier and more personal. I love these programs. What a beautiful library full of amazingly kind, knowledgeable staff, quirky and fun items to checkout, abd a fantastic selection of books.

I don’t know if they recently changed to a different cleaning company or what but every time I go there now its seems worse and worse- from the giant spiderwebs, fingerprints all over the glass doors, left cheeto crumbles to a POOP stain on changing table AND the wall next to it- that’s extremely bothering!
