Waitress was wonderful, very friendly staff and nice little place, clean and homie—that’s for sure—problem is I love my Taylor Ham egg and cheese. It was ok, but it was unbelievably skimpy as there were only 2 slices of Taylor Ham, 2 cheese slices, and an egg for $10. Then it’s on this giant fluffy roll—huge in comparison to what’s on it. Should’ve been $5-$7 MAX. I’d hate to think that they did this because of “shrinkflation”. If they added another slice or two of TH, possibly even another egg—it wouldn’t make a huge difference in terms of profit. At other places, they put at least 4 slices with 2 eggs for $10, which is the standard for a Jersey diner THEC…Now that I’m typing this out, I sound spoiled, but idk. Point is…other places on THECs for the same price, you get much more than you
Located in the quaint town of Madison, NJ. We had a party of 3. Food: Disco fries were good, but have had better. More gravy would have made them excellent. We had them as an appetizer ($8.25 for a large). We had Alpine chicken sandwich, turkey sloppy Joe, and a BLT. All were good with a sizable portion. Classic diner food with a broad menu. Service: service was attentive and polite, however, nothing over the top. Atmosphere: clean seating area with booths, tables, and counter service. Bathrooms were clean too, to me “clean bathrooms “ say something about the kitchen cleanliness 🤷♂️. Summary: great place to have a business meeting or lunch with a friend. Sits in downtown Madison, so you can walk around town and check out all the small shops.
An average diner, with lots of options to choose from, but borderline high prices (what's cheap anymore?), and attentive service. My complaints, aside from parking being limited on weekends, would be, on 2 separate occasions, I specifically requested that my omelettes be cooked extra hot, not spicy, but extra hot, temperature... And both times, they came out warm (at best)... And the coffee, mine being just black, no milk or sugar, was not very hot either... And they don't come around regularly to offer free refills, even on my wife's unsweetened iced tea? I would say if they could prepare their food and coffee a bit hotter, especially when it feels like -10° outside, I would up my rating to 4 stars (or more). Not bad, but there are better diners in Union, Somerset, and Morris counties...
I ordered the spinach and feta omelette, which was decent, with home fries and rye bread. The home fries were good but would have been nice spiced or with a bit of onion and bell pepper. My husband ordered the vegetable sandwich. Which looked good but was s bit bland. Our son had the children's meal mac and cheese, which honestly left a lot to be desired. It looked like it was straight from a box of Kraft mac and cheese, and there was a piece of wood or something like that on top of it when it was served to us. It came with a drink and ice cream l, which were the saving grace here. It would be nice for a children's meal to come with a vegetable too though. The wait staff was nice but I think they can up their game a bit with the food and service overall. Prices are high enough to expect.a
The service was terrible drinks were not filled even when watched by the server my husband had no water gor 80% of his meal. Food was ok but not great there was very small portion sizes 2 slices of French toast for $10 but was not asked if I wanted diffrent sauses with my food. The check was brought without being asked and we had to ask for a box. We came here because of good reviews but will not be going back. We also tipped an amount that was increased without our knowledge this is crazy unacceptable.
