Great display by a gentleman that put this together during the Pandemic. A local resident, he was excited to talk about Truckee and its history.

This is a really good small town museum - definitely recommend if you're in Truckee. It has an excellent overview of various important aspects of the town and why it survived as a community. The docent at the museum gave us a verbal overview, then we looked around at the various items and signage. Note that it has railroad information here but there's also a small display in an actual old railcar, but that's only open on the weekends.

This museum is small, but is full of interesting exhibits and local information. Nothing that is too deep or unmanageable but unique and fascinating. Greg, the docent in attendance was an absolute pleasure - he enthusiastically expanded on many of the exhibits and made our short visit all the more enjoyable. Who knew about Truckee's role in the Winter Olympics, the first chimp in space and the ice harvesting industry (Truckee ice chilling cocktails in San Francisco!!!). Highly recommended - go visit the museum and say hi to Greg!

We walked a few blocks to go to this museum, and we were really excited to visit it as we love both Truckee and museums. We arrived at 3pm on a Sunday, one hour before their 4pm closing time. After me and my family began walking in, the rude docent came out of nowhere and shooed us out and claimed that she was closing the museum and no one could enter. She was very rude about it and very off-putting. Had she phrased it differently and didn’t act like a horrible troll woman it wouldn’t have been as bad, but she was truly vile.
