If you have the urge to know what it feels like to throw a hundred dollar bill in the trash and have your morning ruined all at once, try going to the Morgan Café, the sad, horribly run, expensive cafe inside the [magnificent] Morgan Library and Museum. On this visit, at opening time, the staff was sitting at tables tasting wine (a training session obviously) while a line of people waiting to be seated was forming in plain sight, a few feet away from them! No one bothered to get up and say "we're running late and will open in 10 minutes." I finally called the Café on the phone to see if they might not open at all that day, and saw someone get up from the wine tasting and go answer the phone. That set the tone of things to come. We were the first to get seated at opening time, placed our o

My daughter and I came here for afternoon tea on a Sunday. There were 4 parties ahead of us and we were told that the wait would be around half an hour. We were seated within 10 minutes! We ordered the tea for 2 and it was quite decent. The grapes were of a different variety than the usual ones we see. They were also decked out with glitter. In my experience, pretty stuff generally tend to not taste very good. Boy, was I wrong. These were the best teeny grapes we've ever had in our lives! I would go back there just for those grapes. Service: Very slow paced, but we were in no rush. (The tea set took 30+ minutes to arrive) Atmosphere: Okay, I guess. Nothing noteworthy. Lots of people. Price: I'd say $66 for 2 people is a fantastic price. We didn't even finish everything and got to pack th

The food was delicious and the portions were huge! We had the carrot ginger soup, which was fantastic. The burger had three patties on it, so bigger than we expected. The onion rings and sauce were yum. The opened-faced sandwich with country ham, gruyere, and an egg on what tasted like French toast was a great mix of sweet and salty. Too much food for two adult women for sure. The service was spotty at best. The servers just plopped the food down and left. We had to take our check up to the register ourselves to check out. If you have time, this place is enjoyable, but if not, you will be disappointed.

This review is for afternoon tea at the Morgan Cafe and not for the main dining room in the house which requires separate reservations to access. Had afternoon tea for two here yesterday (9/6/24) and wanted to get my thoughts down while they are fresh. The location is a large atrium that is not very noisy and great for conversation without a booming echo. Staff was attentive and it never got too crowded during my time here on a late Friday afternoon. Food presentation was good (see photos) with an assortment of sweet and savory treats. Side note, if you run out of clotted cream (which was very good), a refill is $2! I found the scones a bit dense but others may like that. I didn't think I would get full but I did and had a box for takeaway for the leftovers. Decent selections of teas

I would love to have loved this. The hype around this whole “affordable afternoon tea” all over the internet was crazy. I was so excited to go. No finger sandwiches. I had an extremely strange spread of food. Puff pastry (extra miniature) with PORK LIVER? NO finger sandwiches. Egg with olives and tuna???? I’m so lost. This was probably the grossest spread for afternoon tea I’ve had. I’m pissed. Also in 5 months it went from 66$ to 88$
