This Cantonese restaurant stands out as the best I’ve discovered so far. The prices are reasonable, the portions are generous, and most importantly, the flavors are simply incredible (平 靚 正). I highly recommend trying the chicken, siew mai, and the claypot rice.
Very Authentic Cantonese Food, Glad to have found a spot that tastes like food back home (HK). I ordered the Wonton and Braised Beef noodles, Pork Ribs Claypot rice, and Choy Sum(Vegetables). Wonton was big with shrimp and pork in it, you can taste that it's the freshly made and not frozen ones. Braised Beef was tender and there were many pieces in it. Noodles are just like the wonton noodles in Hong Kong, cooked great, a bit chewy. The clay pot rice was made to order and came burning hot after cooking it over the fire. Can’t wait to come back and try more dishes.
As a devoted dim sum lover, this is my favorite spot in Manhattan. The food is incredibly fresh and authentically made, but what truly moved me was tasting a real Hong Kong-style herbal soup in New York. It’s the kind of soup that takes at least 12 hours of slow simmering to extract the very best essence of the ingredients!
We had a very pleasant experience on Sunday Feb 15 , 2 pm at Moon Kee. It was a party of 10 at one of the round tables, for a birthday. Some people were quite hungry, so we started ordering dim sum right away from the trolleys that were making the rounds. All of the dim sum dishes were excellent. The main dishes that came later were also on point: well cooked, tasty and quite large portions. Very few of us were able to finish our meals; many take-away containers were required. The staff kindly helped us serve out a birthday cake that we had brought in. My only small critique, which brought the atmosphere rating down to 4 stars, was that our table, which was the round one closest to the front door, would get blasted by a cold draft whenever the door opened. I recommend that they inst
Long overdue review. I discovered Moon Kee soon after they opened 2 yrs ago. My BFF lives on 103rd so it's just 2 blocks away. I can't believe there is an **authentic** Canto restaurant up here! I grew up in LA, lived in NY for 6 yrs and now in No CA. Yes I'm an ABC, but my husband was born in HK and I know good authentic Chinese food. They even have BBQ meat hanging in the windows and people yelling in Cantonese to each other, haha. Sign of authenticity in a dim sum place. The only "non-authentic" thing? It's very very clean, no food stains on the chairs or tables but I haven't seen the bathrooms (I know I'm risking offending some ppl on here...it's a *joke*). There are always lots of Chinese ppl in here too. I was hungry after flying in from CA and why spend $7 on a ham and chee
