McCain's Bakery & Cafe

I want to start by saying I genuinely support small businesses and family owned places. That matters to me, and I do not enjoy leaving negative reviews. That said, this experience at McCain’s Bakery and Cafe in Salado was so disorganized and disappointing that an honest review has to reflect it. We came in on a Sunday morning feeling hopeful. The outdoor patio is a great space, and it looks like the kind of place that should be a solid breakfast stop. Unfortunately, once we sat down, we were basically forgotten. Our coffee was never refilled while we waited, and the waitress did not come back to check on us until the food finally arrived more than 30 minutes later. In the meantime, I had to go inside to get my own coffee. She also never seemed very awake or engaged, and that showed in how

I do not have one complaint about this establishment! We found that this place was right off I-35 service road. I called ahead to ask if I could put my name down to get a table, and the sweet hostess was able to accommodate. Wait was not long at all! Service was great, and the food was amazing and hot. I absolutely adored all the staff there. If you're hungry, and in Salado for breakfast, I totally recommend this place. Definitely get the biscuits (yummy)!!!

We love this place, but expect to wait before getting seated. They're always packed, but for good reason. Their service and food is great. They also make absolutely delicious coffees! The best caramel latte I've ever had at a restaurant. I asked for extra hot, I got extra hot. Highly recommend this place!

We tried McCain's Bakery and Cafe, and the experience was fantastic! The staff was incredibly friendly, and though the place is small, it’s very cozy. The Salado coffee was exceptional—not bitter at all, with a delightful hint of maple syrup. The food is cooked to order, so be prepared for a short wait, but it’s well worth it. I highly recommend visiting if you’re ever in the Salado area!

You would love this place if you are into WW2 aircraft. Photos of B24 liberator, scale model of an F4U Corsair, photos and articles on the walls. The breakfast was perfect, plenty of seating, and the cinnamon rolls- OMG. Take an extra home. We'd intended on a bit.of shopping Saturday, but decided on a quick breakfast- we chose well. Everyone was so nice, including other patrons. We got into a great discussion with an older couple at the next table (they saw our cinnamon rolls and were jealous). Just a nice comfy place for food.
