They have been storing a painting and a children's book for me for 4 months while I was at the hospital. 💯 recommend for a great experience, fantastic prices on art, and fantastic books to buy at a killer discount. Very cool non-circulating library that focusses on local / Monterey area and California history. The docents are full of knowledge and happy to talk with visitors. A lot of research goes on at this private library (open to all, of course).

Super cool old books, medals and other items in an old church. This is actually a research library, you can't check the books out, but you can read them at one of the tables available for you to peruse the old pages.
