Old Monterey Inn

Everything about the Inn is outstanding. My room, the Tattershall, was beautifully decorated and had lots of windows. The bed was very comfortable. The bathroom was small but the towels were great! I also loved having a fireplace in the room.|The staff were extremely nice and helpful. It is within walking distance to town.|I highly recommend The Old Monterey Inn.

Insanely expensive for what it has to offer. 370$ for their cheapest room, for a bed and breakfast. The place is very cute and all, but just not worth the cost for us. The breakfast is lovely especially in pictures but its not a buffet so you only get one pre-decided item maybe you dont like it. The innkeeper left after breakfast and although I called them to inform about late checkout (1h) no one picked up and had to leave VM (on site service is very limited even during day as its bnb), the housekeeping lady was very rude when she came to the room and screamed “get out” at us. Innkeeper was similarly rude. Courtesy towards guests is down-low as there is no perceived obligation as with a hotel. The Chawton was very small for a couple. An absolutely beautiful inn with fantastic, caring staff. We had the most wonderful time at the Old Monterey Inn. We were made to feel so welcome from the moment we arrived, until the time we left. Everything from the furniture, the luxurious bedding, to the thoughtful necessities in the bathroom, to the relaxing cheese n wine happy hour at 4pm each day is done to the highest standard. The dining room is exquisite and the breakfasts are extremely tasty. There was plenty of parking space even when the inn was booked to capacity, and there was a lovely, relaxed atmosphere every day. We were in town as part of our 10th wedding anniversary trip and our time at the Inn was one of the highlights of our trip. We booked a room for our 25th anniversary trip and it happened to fall on Valentines day (2025). We booked 8 months ahead of time and our stay was scheduled to be 3 days long. We left after the first night. The room was the Library, it smelled awful, like moisture had gotten into the carpet and was never cleaned but left to mold and rot. The room was tiny, there was no heat in the room so we had to use a space heater. This room was supposed to have a balcony however the door to the balcony was sealed off with plastic and a huge cold draft came from that door. Checkin was bizarre, the poor woman had just lost her son that day and no one would cover her shift so she was understandable grieving while checking in a full booking of customers. The worst part is that we paid all in all $2.340.13,

We were in town for the IndyCar weekend at Laguna Seca, and We have had the most wonderful stay at The Old Monterey Inn. Everything from the rooms, to the breakfast, the fridge with soft drinks, yogurt & water fully stocked for guests to enjoy, to the stunning grounds was done brilliantly. Wendy & her staff are fantastic and extremely helpful and friendly. The cheese n wine buffet from 4pm - 6pm is a lovely touch and allowed us to mingle with other guests which was really nice. I would happily stay here again because it’s just outstanding. Thank you Wendy for making our stay so enjoyable. Dee & Mark
