Maxine's Catering/Bittersweet Bakers

My husband and I were absolutely thrilled with our wedding cake. We wanted something simple and elegant and that's exactly what was delivered. The cake was gorgeous and absolutely delicious at the same time! Maxine was also a complete joy to work with. We feel very lucky and would recommend Maxine to anyone!

Ooo! Our wedding cake from Maxine’s was so charming and delicious. We found her name on our venue’s vendor list. Frankly, we were not sure if we had enough money for a cake from her but some pleasant and unexpected budget shifts happened and we were able to order a cake for our wedding (6/9/18). We have no regrets about our decision, especially after searching for other bakeries. Her craftsmanship is refined and the icing and cake textures were perfection. My husband and I decided upon an older Martha Stewart cake design: a buttery yellow frosted cake base with piped festoons along the edges in a paler tonal yellow (we are not fans of the naked cake trend.) I cannot stress enough how happy my partner and I are with our cake from Maxine! We got a spice cake with a brown sugar buttercream and apple compote and it was so delicious, had great flavor, was moist, and well balanced. We were complimented all night about how our cake is the first any of our friends ever had at a wedding and actually loved. I made sure to actually get a piece for myself and it was the perfect end to the evening. Maxine is also just so easy to work with and accommodating and I cannot stress enough how happy we are with our experience!

My husband and I live in Michigan and she helped us think through flavor choices and combinations since we couldn't come in for a tasting. Most delicious wedding cake ever! Working with Maxine was so easy and enjoyable - the cake tasting was a lot of fun and we were so happy with our final wedding cake both in terms of look and taste. Not all cakes are created equal and this cake was fantastic!
