Mateus' Restaurant & Bar

On an off day due me still getting over a slight cold, I strolled into Mateus. I’ve passed by this place numerous times as I live in the neighborhood but today I wanted to try it out, finally. I got a Mateus burger deluxe with fries, the soup of the day which was shrimp soup and corn on the cob. I will say I was very disappointed overall. The soup didn’t have a strong shrimp flavor I was looking for, more cream than anything. The shrimp had been in the soup so long, you could taste it starting to breakdown and was not enjoyable. The burger itself came unsalted and unseasoned in general. The some of the lettuce was brown going on wilted, and the cheese was half melted. I ordered a grilled chicken and shrimp in garlic sauce. On the menu provided online it says $21 but they charged me $26. I finally get home to eat my meal and I open it to see there was NO SHRIMP. I paid $26 for freakn two grilled chicken skillets and mashed potatoes. Smh so disappointed.

I have ordered food there before for delivery. This time the fish I ordered smelled like ammonia. Tasted horrible and the horrible smell is still lingering in my house and mouth. I took two bites and am feeling very nauseous. I strongly recommend that you inspect your food carefully!!! How could they not smell it!!?? I’m going to call them and tell them!! I called the restaurant and was told the manager was going to call me, but he never did!! I will never return or order anything from them!!

Cozy place and delicious food! Huge variety of seafood and fish for any taste! Lots of different meet! Delicious desserts! And the stuff that is very friendly and makes you feel so welcome! The prices are very affordable!Loved everything about that restaurant! Highly recommed it to everybody!

Super nice and old fashion service! The way life use to be where you felt served and treated nice! I had eggplant Parmesan For lunch. Yum! My friend had a chicken sandwich. Both were good size portions. If I was not traveling, I would have taken leftovers.The Restroom was clean, staff very attentive, atmosphere elegant. 🫶🏽 I hope to return next visit to NYC
