Marufuku Ramen Serramonte

They had digital waiting list that notified you how many people ahead in queue and estimated seating time. We had a 20 minute wait time on a Sunday afternoon. I tried the deluxe tonkotsu ramen. It had decent flavor with quality noodles. Unfortunately the braised pork had way too much fat on it. Service was friendly and efficient.

Finally found a good ramen spot near our place. I first tried their Japantown branch and was happy to see the quality is just as good here. Both the Hakata Tonkotsu and Tantanmen are delicious—creamy, rich, and flavorful, just how I like my ramen. Staff are attentive and the interior is cute.

The moment you walk in, you are immediately drawn by the beautiful dining room, bold, elegant and modern, from the massive decor columns, led lighting, and exotic wood tables, to giant cultural wine barrels, you know you are in for a treat. Although it was grand opening, all the servers and staff were well trained, you see the Japanese efficiency, and their performance. Lets get to the food, we started with sushito peppers, innocent looking, but some of them do pack a spicy punch… next we had ika squid leg karage lightly battered and fried perfectly, last came the gyoza, which were excellent. We visited as a group of four and all had a great time. The customer service was excellent from start to finish. I especially enjoyed the Hakata Tonkotsu DX and the Ila Karaage that we shared. The meat portions were generous, perfect for meat lovers like myself, and the broth was rich, flavorful, and satisfying. My friends also loved the chicken karaage and the chicken paitan. Overall, a wonderful dining experience we’d happily return for.

Marufuku finally opened in Serramonte! We ordered tonkatsu DX, chicken DX, marufuku bites and salad. This is my first time trying their chicken broth ramen, it is pretty thick and flavorful yet not too oily. The soft boiled egg is cooked perfectly. Generous portion of meat, it comes with a separate chicken leg. The tonkatsu broth is good as usual, the big piece of pork belly is slightly overcooked though. Marufuku bites is okay, a little too much mayo. Salad is nice and fresh, good to have something refreshing while having ramen. Interior is nice and cozy. Service is slightly slow right now, hopefully it gets smoother in a few weeks.
