Burma Silver Star Restaurant

Nice and quiet Burmese restaurant located at the top of the hill in Daly City, there is some street parking and it might be hard to find parking in the neighborhood. It’s a nice spot to have dinner and catch up with friends, service is good you either get hot tea or water. And it’s not too busy. We got their tea leaf salad, coconut chicken noodle soup, chicken and potato curry with roti, and pan fried egg noodle with chicken (reminded me of Filipino pancit). The portions were pretty good and the food was fresh. I wasn’t that big of a fan of their tea leaf salad. It was nice and spacious inside too and we didn’t feel rushed.

Haven’t been to Myanmar but the flavor offered by the food gave an authentic experience unique to Burma. There’s some essence of southeast asian cuisine. Flavor was pretty string and I still enjoyed the culinary experience even after stepping outside the restaurant. ambience felt homy and culturally rich. Service was good. I tried the Khouk Swe Thoke noodle. I good balance of ingredients but the flavor of dried shrimp seemed too strong for me. I recommend Faluda, somewhat has similarity to Philippines’ Halo-halo but this one is rich and creamy with tasty egg pudding! i loved every bite of it. Perfect to end the night with a delicious dessert. Highly recommended!!

As a Burmese who born and raised in Burma (Myanmar) grew up eating home cooked Burmese foods, I can tell you that every single items at Burma Silver are very authentic, super delicious and full of flavors which close to home. Portions are quite big even though the price is very fair compared to other hit Burmese restaurants in San Francisco. The owner/chef Mr. Soe has been the sweetest and most accommodating. Totally recommend the restaurant.

Look, I’m not Burmese, and I have never been to Burma/Myanmar. All I know I love me a good mom & pop shop, and this mom & pop serves the best Burmese I’ve had in SF. We’re coming back. Tea leaf salad - whole tea leaves make for a different texture and taste than the original style with ground leaves in the dressing. Fresh and vibrant. I can eat this daily. Khouk Swe Thoke (noodle salad) - I’m bean powder curious these days, so had to try this out. An interesting mouthfeel that’s somewhere between creamy and powdery. Spicy, sweet, salty, creamy, savory, especially from the dried seafood. It’s a heavy hitter but not too heavy. I think it’s the bean powder that strikes a balance. Fast, friendly service. The food is fantastic. My wife’s family is from Burma and this place gets her seal of approval so you know it’s legit! We come often and are never disappointed. If you like Burmese food, curries, noodles, coconutty things, and / or big flavors you’ll love this place!
