Manhasset Public Library

I hate to leave negative reviews, but this is well deserved. The air conditioning here has not been working well for a week. On 6/24/25 they made an announcement that they are closing early, because AC is not working. Mind you this is all going on while there is a heat wave and 100-degree days. The next day 6/25/25 they just post sign that they are opening 11:00AM instead of 9:00AM. This is without changing their opening time online. So, you would not know they decided to open late until you show up. Now today 6/26/25 there is NO AC at all in the library. I would like to know why they do not maintain their AC on regular bases, so this does not happen. I mean they have plenty of money from the high taxes they collect. Excellent library all around! Clean and neat. The staff are friendly easy going people who care about their work place and the patrons. A good amount of books and publications. A good amount of computers that work with useful software as well. If they don’t have a book then are part of LI Link in where you can borrow books from all over Long Island with a Long Island Library card. I highly recommend this Library.

The kids space is good! Super funny and have a lot of books.

The library is fairly empty because of the pandemic. They have an excellent system for reserving online and once items become available, hand delivering them to your car in designated parking spots. You must wear a mask. You can spend time in the library to look through the shelves yourself.

This is probably the cleanest and best stocked library I have ever been to in recent memory. The staff at the library are courteous and helpful.
