Mamie's Cottage Bed and Breakfast at the Dupree House

One of the best bed and breakfast stays we have ever had! Such gracious hosts and a beautiful home and B&B cottage. The breakfast was outstanding and the tour of the main house was so interesting and enjoyable. The cottage was spacious and comfortable. Brenda and Charles thought of everything. We look forward to going back to stay again!

My wife and I stayed at Mamie's twice on a recent bike trip. It was better than I had expected. ||The first thing one sees upon arrival is the nineteenth century Dupree House, a remarkably well-preserved mansion. Guest accommodations are in an adjacent, even older, cottage that has been updated with air conditioning. ||Brenda and Charles, the proprietors, don't offer an evening meal, but they sent us a link to some restaurants that offered take-out. We selected dinners, which Brenda picked up for us. My wife and I love historical homes and the Dupree House did not disappoint. The current owners, Charles and Brenda Davis, have painstakingly restored the large plantation house to its original appearance with the addition of modern amenities. After a delicious country breakfast in the main house, they gave us a tour of the entire house which was fascinating. They both described the restoration as a labor of love and that is quite evident by their attention to details. As a guest, we stayed in a small cottage (Mamie’s) which about a hundred feet from the main house. The cottage was built around 1840 and the Davis’ had it moved from its original location in Raymond to where it now sits. It is quaint but comfortable and relaxing. I would give them more stars if possible. Brenda and Charles are superb hosts! We stayed 2 non-consecutive nights while biking the Natchez Trace. Don't be fooled by the outside of the Dupree house where the paint is quite faded (as the historic wood does not actually require paint to resist rotting). The interior of the house is amazing! Brenda and Charles will provide an excellent tour if time permits. Accommodations in the cottage are wonderful and private but the hosts are so nice if you need anything. Since we were biking and the town was about 5 miles away, they were extremely gracious in driving us into town one of the nights and picking up dinner for us the other night. If biking or driving the trace, Mamie's Cottage is a great option. In my case potential bad weather made it necessary to find an inn as opposed to camping (And rocky springs is in need of work regardless). Brenda and Charles were amazing hosts and even helped me get to one of the best restaurants in Mississippi. The cottage itself is truly historic as is the house. The breakfast was better then you would find in most restaurants. I am glad I stayed there.
