Happy to support this local business. The food was amazing, has the definitive taste of home cooking.
The food is delicious and consistent. It tastes like home-cooked food by your grandma. My kids are 6 and 9 and fight over some of the dishes. The goulashes are delicious and warming, and I especially love the poppyseed dessert. I feel so fortunate to have Hungarian food in Massachusetts. We used to drive to Manchester, but Lala’s closed, or we would get it in Ohio when visiting family. Now I can order a bunch of dishes for my freezer or to bring to family parties.
Let me start by saying one of my best friends is Hungarian and took me to Budapest for 3 weeks one summer. Ever since, I've been obsessed with Hungarian food and desserts! From Gyulas to Paprikash, from Zserbó to Dobos Torta, from Kurtoskalacs to Langos! Finding a local Hungarian home kitchen was like a small oasis in the desert! Everything from ordering to drop off was seamless and professional! The food is professionally packaged and flash frozen and tastes as fresh as if you just made it 10 minutes ago! The aromas of paprika waft through the air and for a few minutes, it smells like a central European home in your kitchen! I ordered the beef stew with nokedli (my favorite dumplings), the chicken with nokedli, and a Bakonyi pork dish! So far, so great! The beef porkolt with nokedli was
i ordered the bean goulash and it was really delicious! the broth was so savoury, the beans provided creamy starchiness, and i love the pasta too. i feel greatful to try hungarian food as it's not common around the northeast. only comment i have is that the beef cut chosen ( maybe shank?) was kind of chewy, but this is by the nature of beef shank anyways. to the extent that shank goes it was cooked perfectly. in any case, it all had the indescribably and cozy taste of a grandma's home cooked food and i would recommend trying this place out :) to order, you can put in an order online and then text or call to arrange a pickup time. when i drove to the location for pickup, i was given the food by a kind older man.
Never had Hungarian food before, but everything I got was very good! Everything was rich and flavorful, would definitely order again.
