I would say the service was excellent. The food was good. Some dishes, better than others. The steak and fries was delicious. Really enjoyed the grouper tacos. The Peruvian pulled pork was a little bit too greasy and salty. The cornmeal ice cream with blueberry compote was good. Cocktails were good. I would say it is on the expensive side but still reasonable.

We visited Maize Cocina & Cocktails in Westfield, NJ for their Valentine’s Day prix fixe menu. We were seated quickly and welcomed warmly, and the atmosphere was absolutely beautiful , definitely one of the highlights of the night. The cocktails were also excellent and well-crafted. Unfortunately, the food and service didn’t match the ambiance. While the staff was friendly, the service was extremely slow, drinks took about 20–30 minutes to arrive, which made the overall experience feel dragged out. As for the food, some items felt underwhelming and not very fresh. The tortilla chips tasted like they came from fryer oil that needed changing. The guacamole was very good, but the clear standout of the night was the mushroom empanadas , absolutely delicious and the most memorable dish we had

Last night I had the pleasure of dining at Maize Cocina & Cocktails in Westfield, NJ — and let me tell you, if you love Mexican food and crave an elevated dining experience, this is the spot! 🌮✨ Everything was incredible, but my favorites were the maize croquettes, crabmeat tostadas, and the whole fish adobo — absolutely delicious. They’ve also added some exciting new dishes like the Tamarind Sticky Duck Breast and Pork Chop Amarillo that you’ll definitely want to try. If you’re planning a visit, go between Thursday and Sunday — those are their action days! Trust me, if you’re looking for a great vibe and even better food, Maize is the place to be. 🍹🔥

A great and well located Mexican restaurant, just steps off of the New Jersey transit. The menu was quite expensive for new modern Mexican food. We ended up trying quite a couple of dishes to sample everything. Will definitely have to come back to try some of their drinks. The octopus dish was overcooked and over seasoned. However, the chicken Tinga nachos were incredible perfectly crispy yet smothered in cheese and sauces. The Molay chicken was perfectly cooked, large portion size and incredibly flavorful. The grouper tacos were the best taco that we had, perfect blend of crunch with a soft sales taco paired with a delicious slaw. The brisket tacos were also good, but were a bit harder to share as it was one large chunk of brisket. The Hamachi was mediocre at best, it felt like an attempt

Maize absolutely exceeded my expectations! From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was warm, welcoming, and full of great energy. The food was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented — you can truly taste the quality in every bite. And the Bloody Mary? WOW. It was hands down one of the best I’ve ever had — perfectly balanced, bold, and packed with flavor. Honestly, it was to die for. You can tell they put real thought into crafting their drinks. The service was attentive and friendly, making the whole experience even better. If you’re looking for a spot with amazing food, incredible drinks, and a great vibe, Maize is it. Can’t wait to come back!
