M JOY 大美乐羊排饭 - San Gabriel

I recently tried MJOY (大美樂), which highlights dishes inspired by Xinjiang (新疆) and northern Chinese cuisine, especially their lamb specialties. The food was delicious and well cooked — the lamb shank and skewers were tender, flavorful, and perfectly seasoned. I especially enjoyed the refreshing cold side dish of shredded carrots with garlic (凉拌胡萝卜丝), which balanced the richness of the lamb beautifully. The salty milk tea (咸奶茶) was a real mouthful of surprise for a first-time taster — unusual at first, but it grew on me and paired nicely with the heavier dishes. It would be nice to see a few more vegetarian options on the menu, but overall this is a fantastic spot for authentic lamb and flavors from northern China.

The food was great! The lamb shank and the ribs - both original, and grilled - were perfect! The rice was delicious! BUT, I saw them DROP two pieces of the barbecue skewers ON THE FLOOR behind the half-curtains. SOMEONE PICKED THEM UP, PUT THEM BACK ON THE PLATTER AND SERVED IT AS IF NOTHING HAPPENED I had to call them out to confirm if they did drop it. At first, they didn't know how to respond, but after a few moments of eye contact, they decided to replace it right away with no questions asked. Now, would you trust eating the 'new' set of skewers that they served? And look at that picture - nowhere near like other pics of the skewers on their Yelp page :-( Management, please kindly re-train your kitchen crew on food safety and handling.

Came here for lunch with two friends a couple of days ago. The lamb was absolutely delicious—super tender and flavorful with no gamy smell at all, which really surprised me. We tried both the lamb ribs and shanks, and they were perfectly seasoned with cumin and spices. The owner was very kind and even gave us yogurt dessert on the house to finish off the meal. Will definitely be back again!

An incredibly unique restaurant serving lamb dishes from the western provinces of China. Highly recommend getting the rib and shank combo. I got the grilled versions (+$2) but it was worth every penny. Other reviewers liked the non-grilled versions too, so I guess you can't go wrong with this place! The default rice that comes with every dish is seemingly fried with lamb fat, which causes an instant food coma.

Better than the lamb leg rice in Shanghai, the milk tea is delicious, I recommend the hot one, it's the only one in Los Angeles We went to the new store in San Gabriel, and visited the store after get off work. We also encountered the last day of the 12% discount at the new store. Thanks to the boss for the hospitality Packed it up for my sister and brother-in-law. My sister has never eaten lamb leg and lamb chop rice in mainland China. She was amazed at the taste
