Longwood Farm Bed & Breakfast

My husband and I recently stayed with Carol for a weekend getaway to Charlottesville. Longwood Farms wound up being the perfect homebase for us. We were able to quickly get anywhere we wanted, but then come back to a quiet, peaceful, relaxing environment for a good's night sleep. (We stayed in the Magnolia room. Lovely!) Carol is a charming, gracious host who was filled with fantastic conversation over her delicious breakfasts. We will absolutely be back again.

We found Longwood through Airbnb and it was a great place to stay for the weekend. Beautiful farmhouse and very friendly host.

This b&B offered respite from busy, noisy city life. Situated well back from the main road on an active farm (cows!), its 3 large porches looked out onto fields and woods; perfect for gazing, reading, and napping by yourself or chatting, playing cards, and enjoying cocktails with family and friends. Guest rooms were spacious and comfortable with lovely linens and antique furniture. Innkeeper Carol made a delicious breakfast with a special menu each morning and served it in the beautifully appointed dining room. Produce from her garden was ripe when we visited in August and we were treated to home grown tomatoes, cantaloupe, and cucumbers -- and mint syrup for iced tea. Carol couldn't have been more welcoming and attentive.

Delightful stay at historic 1850 Gordonsville B&B near Monticello and vineyards||||My wife and I had a very pleasant stay at the Longwood Farm bed and breakfast in Gordonsville, VA (a small town about 25 minutes from Charlottesville and Monticello). We prefer lodging at a nice B&B over a motel or hotel, and Longwood Farm is one of our favorites. There are several vineyards nearby, and we enjoyed a wine tasting on the way. George and Carol were very friendly, and their historic 1850 home has been nicely restored, while retaining many of the original features. They have furnished it with a very impressive collection of fine antiques, art, and oriental carpets. ||||Carol has a serious green thumb and there are many live plants inside and out. My husband and I stayed here towards the end of our honeymoon to "escape" the vacation for awhile. There is a mile drive down a dirt road and no sign indicating it was a bed & breakfast, but it was exactly what we needed from the previous days of busy touring. During the evenings we sat and talked with Carol on the back porch overlooking the pastureland. She is delightful to talk to and filled with great stories. Her breakfasts fueled us for the day, and her homemade tomato juice was great! It was the good old fashion southern hospitality that made this 1850s b&b feel like home.
