Gordonsville Ice House

Atmosphere is really nice and the restaurant is really clean in a very unique setting that maintains its historic charm. Service was okay, we stood for a few waiting to be seated and then waited a few more waiting to be served. The server did explain that shift change was happening and we were in no rush so it didn’t bother us at all. Deviled eggs were amazing and so was the chicken salad. The fries were delicious and cooked perfectly. The fried chicken was a little salty for my taste and my daughter had the same issue with the chicken sandwich. Overall good experience and will definitely eat there again to try one of the burgers.

I ordered the chicken salad dish on my most recent visit in February 2026. It came out with a huge portion of chicken salad served on a lettuce leaf accompanied by fruit, crackers, and cheese on a super cute wooden board. I enjoyed it and my picky kids liked it as well. We enjoyed the visit. Staff was talking about how they were short people. I noticed the manager was there but apparently he left without helping the staff. That’s the kind of stuff that gets a placed closed down when they cannot adequately serve people. Our waitress was amazing, friendly, and on point with things.

The double Smashburger w/ cheese was fresh tasting, cooked and constructed perfectly. Not too big but plenty for me with the potato wedges, which I liked a lot more than I expected to. Really good. My wife's fried chicken and sides were on point as always.

As a person with Celiac, I would not recommend this place. The wait staff was unknowledgeable about gluten free options. No GF bread. No separate frier. Only GF option is salad, but ranch dressing had beer in it (not GF). On the flip side, my husband (not GF) said it was some of the best fried chicken, potato wedges and Mac and cheese he's had in a long time.

We were driving through town and saw the ice house stopped to get lunch/ dinner We got appetizers Cheese Curls Comes with hot honey and pretzel bites cheese dip both were pretty good. Kid 1 got chicken leg & kid 2 got chicken nuggets. We all got two-piece white chicken. Me and wife got dinner biscuit not very good. daughter got a. Dinner roll wish I got the dinner roll nobody like the potato wedges they were cooked good just nobody likes them waitress was very nice in the atmosphere was very nice I got the coleslaw was good it was a little pricey overall it was pretty good
