Legacy Cafe

A weekend getaway trip brought us to town, and glowing reviews brought us in the door. Got the shrimp n grits and Legacy Omelet. Man the sauce on those grits was sooooooo tasty.

We had to wait a long time (an hour just to get our food). It felt poorly managed. We didn’t have a singular waitress and were confused about how to order. I am not at all one to judge when it comes to children being loud, but 3 kids ranging from 5-8 are in the back of the kitchen. Hair found in food. The potato salad is pretty bad, the sandwich besides the hair is good. They didn’t have a lot of things on their menu, and said it would be priced differently. Nobody was directly rude, but you can tell some of the workers were upset. We got our drinks after our food and she kept forgetting to bring things out. I was really exited to try this.

This was my first time to eat here but DEFINITELY NOT THE LAST! The employees are very nice and the food is DELICIOUS!!😋 There's a relaxing sitting area outside and the interior atmosphere is casual. I had the grilled catfish and grilled shrimp with hush puppies and a side salad. And my husband is going to be HAPPY when he sees his fried catfish with hush puppies and onion rings for dinner!!🤩

On yesterday the love of my life and I came down from Shreveport to the Legacy Cafe in Natchitoches for our Valentine's Day Dinner even though we wass n hour behind Karen keep the dining area open until we arrived finally ww placed our order over the phone the food service was ready just like it was a five star restaurant in New York we had for the catfish louisiana and a T-bone that was seasoned to perfection steak sauce was mot needed just butter was the only steak dressing both main course was accompanied with to sides each which was collard greens and candied yams followed by a strawberry and turtle cheesecake it was worth the drive down we will be back soon and again thank you Karen and the Legacy Cafe staff

Serendipitous place... Wasn't expecting the little oasis that it is. Soul food meets health food. I walked in to the place with a hip but relaxed BoHo feel piping in smooth jazz - but really just functional. Food was a great mix between comfort food and fresh/healthy dishes. I really enjoyed my homemade vegetarian black bean burger that was falling apart like a sloppy Joe with sides of salty turnip greens and a fresh fruit cup. Inspirational vibes underlie the restaurant's purpose to support the local community and it added to the flavors. I do think the offerings could be improved a bit (upscale the buns and tweak the potato salad recipe) but the current value is hard to beat as is. I'll be back!
