WOW! Delicious Food, Welcoming Service, and Rich History! The incredible reviews for Laysone's Meat Pie Restaurant were spot on and then some! This place is a must-go when visiting Natchitoches any time of year. The restaurant is steeped in history, but most importantly, it offers welcoming service and absolutely delicious food. 🍽️ The Food Highlights: Appetizers: We started with the Corn Fritters and Fried Green Beans. OMG, the Fried Green Beans were the star food of the weekend! The Corn Fritters were right there with them—a perfect start. The Main Event: The meat pies came out, and oh my, you just can't get a better cooked and tastier Natchitoches Meat Pie anywhere. Whether you get the beef or crawfish, they are both fantastic. Helen made our first visit very memorable. We discovered that meat pies are a thing in this area. Our first experience was at another local restaurant the previous evening, and these, although different, were every bit as good. We decided to also split a crawfish version. Do yourself a favor, TRY BOTH! The gumbo, it’s wonderful as well, full of chunks of chicken and sausage…🤤😍.

If you enjoy Crawfish Pie, this is the place to go! The Crawfish Pie is outstanding! Their other menu items are outstanding as well! Very good, fast and friendly service. The prices are very reasonable with large servings that will fill you up! The restaurant is a time capsule! The walls are adorned with historical photos and documents dating back to 1967 that highlight the restaurant and it's owners. You will not be disappointed!

If you are in the area you just have to stop and try one of their famous meat patties. I was traveling with my dog so eating inside wasn't an option for me. I do not believe that they have outdoor seating It was not visible from the from the front and I'm pretty sure there's no outdoor dining at all. I got mine to go it is a Krispy crust not quite like a pie but crispier and lighter. The meat pie is stuffed with something sort of like corned beef hash although the consistency and flavor is quite different.

I recently tried the Meat Pie platter, Gumbo, beef stew and creole pasta salad here. The flavors were definitely a highlight – everything tasted great! My only real critique is that the serving sizes were quite small. If you're looking for a filling meal, you might need to order multiple dishes or sides.
