Delicious high-quality matcha, amazing croissants, y onda latina maravillosa. Highly recommend if you’re checking out new spots in Old Town- make this your regular! Service was also superb, we felt super welcomed and accommodated despite there being limited seating. Also, try the dirty horchata and chocolate croissant! What a combo.

Such a cute cute place. I would say plan ahead because it is small and cozy other than that everything is great, stopped in with my girlfriends for brunch and everything was delish! Definitely get the empanadas fresh & light! Everything was so enjoyable.

This quiet little gem is perfect in every detail: handsomely renovated building, beautiful morning light, gracious service, delicious cappuccinos and lattes. Haven’t tried the food yet but menu and other patrons’ orders look great. Upstairs is beautiful and cosy, with plentiful natural light; outdoor area is protected from the street yet open to the sky. UPDATE: I went back to try the food and ordered shrimp tacos. Superb…very high quality. Though billed as small plates, the 3 taco serving was substantial enough to provide dinner. UPDATE #2: vegetarian tacos were light and flavorful. So good.

First time in my life coming across the VA, perhaps Alexandria. A nice 60 degree day, and BOOM I seen LaPluma. When I did a quick check, I was amused to see the Guatemalan and Salvadorian roots that seemed to hum its own melody amid the historic calm. I arrived just past breakfast hours, a small heartbreak :( but that disappointment faded quickly when I met Sarah. Now, some people simply do their jobs. But Sarah!!! Embodies hospitality. A smile that that radiates kindness, and a warmth that lingered long after she spoke. She didn’t just list the menu; she narrated it, each dish told with sincerity. We need more people like Sarah in this world; that kind of hospitality is rare nowadays, people who remind you that kindness still exists, even in the rush of daily service. On her suggestion,

LaPluma is a fantastic addition to the Old Town Alexandria community! I have been a repeat customer since the week they opened. Their friendly service, delicious drinks, and high-quality food keep me coming back. They have an all-day table-service serving model, but also welcome teleworking customers. I often come to telework during the day and order an iced dirty horchata, my favorite. For food items, I rotate between the cheese and spinach pupusas, churros, and shrimp tacos. The portions are large and each bite is delicious. Note that it can get busy on evenings and weekends so make sure to come early!
