Had a really nice dinner here during happy hour. We ordered the takoyaki (which was complimentary for making a reservation; it was a nice surprise!), agedashi tofu, and chicken karaage to start. Everything came out hot, fresh, and really flavorful. The tofu was really soft/creamy. The pork cutlet curry was hearty and satisfying, with great depth of flavor. We shared the Tokyo banana crème brûlée for dessert; it was fine, just a bit sweeter and more candy-like than I expected. Overall, a great experience; would definitely recommend.

I had an amazing experience at Kei (Izakaya & Ramen) in NYC. The food was absolutely delicious — every dish was full of authentic Japanese flavor and beautifully presented. The ramen broth was rich and perfectly balanced, and you can really taste the quality of the ingredients. What makes this place even more special is that the chef has Michelin-level experience, and it truly shows in the attention to detail and technique. Every bite felt carefully crafted. The service was also excellent. The staff were friendly, attentive, and made sure we felt welcomed throughout the meal. The atmosphere is cozy and perfect for both casual dining and special occasions. If you’re looking for high-quality Japanese food in New York City, I highly recommend Kei. I will definitely come back again!

I’m really impressed with this restaurant! The food is absolutely delicious, and the ingredients are very fresh and high quality. The staff provide excellent service — they’re attentive, friendly, and give great recommendations for the menu, which makes ordering much easier. One dish I highly recommend is the Chashu Ramen. The broth is rich and flavorful, and the chashu pork is incredibly tender. The portion is generous too one bowl is definitely enough to make you full. The Salmon Roll Sushi was also fresh and tasty. Overall, great food, great service, and great quality.

I visited KEI during off-peak hours and was impressed by the spacious, nicely designed interior, which is full of traditional Japanese elements. While the ambiance is perfect for a giant group, the food was unfortunately not as impressive. I tried the Kushi Katsu set and the pork cutlet curry, both of which felt like they were just meeting the bar. At this price point, I expected more well-balanced flavors or delicate sauces. It is not a bad spot, but without a clear signature piece, I remain reserved about recommending it.

Very delicious ramen & curry . Ramen is thinner than some I’ve had in California and I really like it. Had the Pork Chasu Ramen and the Omurice Curry has a mound of rice covered with a light omelette. My server Pewter is very nice and accommodating. I really enjoyed KEI and will be back many times when I am visiting NYC. I never noticed it before and happen to see the ramen sign on the sidewalk so as you’re walking and not looking it may be missed as many other places. It’s a good place to come if you’re looking in the Chelsea area. A very nice addition to the neighborhood. I want to come back to try some of the other dishes and sushi.
