Katama General Store

An excellent spot to grab snacks for the beach, a souvenir to take home, or even a meal after a day spent exploring the Island. It’s near South Beach, and I was thankful to stumble upon it after riding my bike from West Tisbury, enjoying the beach, and then heading up your way Edgartown. There’s everything you’d expect to find at a general store, along with a counter-service kitchen where you can get a great lobster roll, a smoothie, and more. While it is expensive, it’s not out of line compared with other spots on Martha’s Vineyard. They have a nice little outdoor dining area to enjoy if you don’t want to take it to go. While I didn’t get a souvenir, the T-shirts they sell taught me how to properly pronounce Katama, the cherry on top for me!

Johnny knocks it out of the park with the finest lobster roll I have ever tasted! From the brioche bun to huge chunks of sweet, fresh lobster… a sublime combination! The best bites on Martha’s Vineyard, and well worth the drive to Katama. 🙏🏼

I remember when this place was barely a shack on the way to South Beach. Now, it's been immensely upgraded and offers everything from souvenirs and gifts to food...even sushi! But by far the best reason to stop is their lobster roll, which is the best I've ever enjoyed...tons of lobster on a brioche bun. A bargain at $32 (the price can vary).

Hands down the best lobster roll on the island, simplicity executed to perfection. Johnny is clearly some sort of magician. Also the ideal stop for beer on the way to South Beach.

The best burger and lobster roll we’ve had on MV. My toddler (who my wife fears is vegetarian) couldn’t get enough of the burger. The double pattie smash burger is well cooked and the toasted potato bun is perfect. While they’re not giving away the lobster roll, they are generous with the meat and the bun is nice and crispy. Two members of the family said it was their favorite lobster roll ever, one said it was his second favorite.
