Johan's Pastry Shop

My husband and I drove up to the area yesterday and noticed this cute bakery. We stopped and are glad we did. This is a well established business with a homey decor and fresh bakery offerings. We enjoyed a huge and delicious apple fritter, an Apple Bismarck and got a small cake to bring home. The apple filling was delicious and not thick and sticky, it seems freshly made. The pastry was light and covered in a cinnamon sugar! My husband enjoyed the massive apple fritter. It was delicious! We got a cute little German Chocolate Cake for our anniversary dinner. They even wrote the number 14 on top of the cake. This cake was scratch made and absolutely delicious! It’s very very rich and the filling is so good. They let us use the very clean bathrooms. This is a quality little donut shop in Petosky. The quality is quite high. We were disappointed with the apple fritters. They look marvelous, but are nearly absent of any actual apple. The old fashioned cinnamon roll was great. The lemon filled was great too. They are busy, so it may be best to come prepared to get an assorted mix, a preset selection for your family, or cram everyone into the tiny showroom.

Best hometown bakery 🧁 open at 5:30 am with baked ( lard free oil) doughnuts. When I say the best bakery in town I mean it. Trade the Dutch oven out in alanson, in the donuts were so sweet I couldn't finish it. Johannes has the best fritters I've had in quite some time which I will post pictures of. The staff are dedicated opening at 5:00 a.m every day. Fritters are warm ,and fresh!!!!

Johan’s bakery is a must within the area. I am working on a project in Petoskey and needed some goodies for a meeting. A quick Google search let me right to Johan’s. Always greeted with a friendly smile and a good morning. Now I make it a point every Tuesday to stop at Johan‘s and get donuts for my team. Great place, great people, great donuts

Within the traditional category this place rocks! We headed over here upon recommendation from a friend. You won’t find anything spectacular like bespoke chocolate formed into an artistic embellishment, rather you’ll savor proven simple receipes that are tasty. I was impressed with the overall taste signature and rich flavor, as nothing was done in excess and not overly sweet. I wish the prices were more transparent. I certainly see a revisit in the future for when I head back up north.
