Jamaica's Grill

I’m not the type to usually write negative reviews, but after this experience, I have no choice. Yesterday I decided to grab some Jamaican food from Jamaica’s Grill. When I walked in, the atmosphere was welcoming, the service was friendly, and the place itself looked clean and inviting. At that point, I thought I was in for a great meal. I ordered takeout: curry chicken, curry goat, oxtail, and two curry chicken patties. The bill came out to about $50. Once I got home and opened everything up, something just didn’t look right. Sure enough, when I took a bite, my suspicions were confirmed. The food was completely tasteless — and it left me feeling like I was just eating old meat. I'm so glad this spot reopened under new ownership, and this time, they got it right. Clean and decor fits the vibe. Ordered for lunch and dinner to go : Curry Chicken Patty - flaky and the filling was bomb, got stuck in Hard Scrabble construction traffic and took a bite and before I knew it I had eaten the entire patty, it was so flavorful and yummy, mad I didn't two. Ordered Rasta Pasta w Shrimp for dinner but wanted to taste it, and again, it was so good I could stop eating it. Plump Well seasoned shrimp and the pasta were cooked to perfection. The sauce was again well seasoned with a kick of heat, and it didn't overpower the flavor of the sauce so you could enjoy both the heat & flavor. If I could have rated this place zero stars I would have. This is my first time eating here and the price I paid for the food is ridiculous. I can go to TaTi’s and get oxtails over Rasta pasta and pay less for more food! 3 oxtails and a scoop of Rasta pasta for $27 is a get over. Yes, I understand prices have gone up but at least give me my money worth. This is my first and most definitely LAST time eating here. I asked the cashier to explain to me why the menu says $17 for oxtails dinner but then I get charged $27. Her best answer to me was because you got your Rasta pasta and oxtails in separate containers like WHAT MAKE IT MAKE SENSE TO ME BC that most definitely don’t make any sense. Y’all got my money this time but never again SMH.

Stopped through 2x's in the past weekend. First time to get Rasta Pasta for dinner and it was really good and filling. I was heading to get fast food but decided to spend my dollars with black owned so went bck for lunch and got the Jerk Philly Sandwich and fries. Glad I opted for this over fast food. Veggies were cooked well per my request. Flavor was on point , bread toasted perfectly 👌🏽, sauce added that something extra that I needed and a generous portion of fries. A cold green Ting to wash it all down. Perfect lunch portion. Thanks again for some great meals ! Continued Success!

I had chicken curry with cabbage and plantain. Plantain cooked perfect. Curry was too salty, not enough meat and mostly bones and sauce; and cabbage was bland. Spent around $23 including pink ting. Not the best first experience.
