Island House Restaurant

We used a 3rd party ordering. Came fairly quickly. Food was delicious. Vegetables were fresh and cooked perfectly. Chicken fell off the bone and tender. The rice and beans weren't my fave but a good base to mix a bit of the slaw in. No stomach aches (because I mean that's the real world test right?) I plan on ordering again!

When I walked in, I felt bad vibes immediately, we did not get greeted. She was giving me a dirty look the whole time, and I felt bad.and me and my husband were very hungry at the time so we just ordered two beef patties. With cheese and Coco bread usually that is about $10 plus tax she added her own tax and added her on price so it came out to $12.15 and we try to give it a chance so when we go home and try to eat it, the food was an edible cold burned hard. There was no meat inside the beef patty and the size of the beef patty was too small to even be that price. I would never eat here. This is a real review. Have to say, It was such a bad experience and what I went through while I was eating the food I was not satisfied at all, This was a place that was highly recommended. I was hurt to know real Jamaicans will cook such with no care or love in their culture food. I'm sorry but I do not recommend this place for anyone who loves Jamaican food and soul food. Never again. But if you choose to go I do highly recommend that yams bc You cannot mess up on that. I ordered the rice with the oxtail and yams, and to remind yous all there was no flavors in any of their food. This was positively the nasties “Jamaican” good I’ve ever had. The curry chicken was some poorly cleaned salty piece of chicken thigh that barely tasted like curry. The cabbage was the most disgusting oily cabbage I’ve ever had & it was in this red sauce that tasted tomato based or something & let me reiterate - OILY. Never seen it made this way & absolutely disgusting. The rice and peas was okay. $23 for this mess is insane!!! Go spend your money elsewhere.

Food tastes as it looks. Burnt and old, these are ox tales. I couldn’t eat this at all, the gravy even had the burnt taste. The service was decent but she spoke very soft. I am hoping this was an off day for this restaurant 🤷🏾‍♂️
