Inn at Phillips Mill Restaurant

I had my wedding here years ago. I'm only sharing this story because it's closed and, while I didn't want to hurt the business, I want the owners to know I know. Not only was the staff annoyed when I showed up prior to the wedding to lay out favors and take photos, but I had rented out every room. Last minute before the day, I was told that the cottage was not rentable because of a burst water pipe. It was the summer and everything was rented/expensive. I found another room for $400 that night for my party to stay in, accepting the inconvenience. Well, the inn would keep a list written in paper in the lobby with the names of the guests by room. I saw it the next morning and the cottage was occupied. Turns out, it was the owner's friend.

This Inn has old world charm at every corner. The food is consistently good and not over the top with price. I love the mood and environment, a very romantic setting with tables nestled here and there. The patio room is a bit loud though, being enclosed in glass and the courtyard can be buggy, depending on season - still all worth it. It is BYOB, which makes it all that more appealing!

I'm not sure how this place doesn't get 5 stars. I guess it's not "for everybody" but it seems like such a gem to us. The place is quirky, cozy and arguably the coolest place to stay in the region. If you're looking for luxury, this is not for you. If you're looking for cheap and simple, also not for you. This place is about having some authentic country charm with an eclectic and old-school vibe. The rooms are all different, but lovely. The restaurant is CONSTANTLY packed and very tasty (American Fine-Dining). It's usually pretty easy to get a room, I'm always impressed by that. If this place were any closer to Philadelphia, it'd be a suburb of it! Bring a bottle of champagne and put it on ice, go with someone you like to cozy up with. Bring books to read and some walking shoes. Enjoy

Charming, old country inn, serving a classic, French menu. Romantic (dimly lit) atmosphere, good food, and very attentive service. One of the reasons we went there was that it's BYOB, and I had some aged wines I wanted to drink. But not having a chocolate option for dessert was disappointing, as I had brought a dessert wine specifically for that.

This was our second time visiting the Inn. They seated us promptly, were kind and courteous and had a nice selection on the menu. We were able to order something for everyone, though for our picky 8 year old that meant bread, salad and dessert. We were very happy and would dine again. One disappointment was the waiter seemed to forget we exists, forgetting to refill our water and generally just disappearing. Alas, a great, local experience less one star for the service oversight.
