House of Umami Ramen

I totally didn't expect to find a legit Ramen joint in Jackson as I was driving by. I came to find out that it has been around for about a year now, an expansion from its original location in Canton. I usually go to AKA across the street when I drive by on 94, but decide to give them a shot this time. I always go for the Miso Ramen because I love the rich thick broth, and it is actually not as easy to make as most people might think. Miso paste is thick, if you don't put enough of it there is no taste, too much of it, it will turn into a sludge. So you will have to balance out the soup base. The chicken was terrible! I ordered the Bang Bang Chicken, but it was far from fresh. It was so dry it felt like eating chicken jerky and the green onions on top were withered like dried herbs. To make matters worse, about a third of the dish consisted of empty fried batter with no chicken inside, pieces that should have been thrown away. It honestly felt like they had just re-fried someone else's leftovers. ​​As for the Miso Ramen, it tasted like plain hot water at first. I eventually found a clump of undissolved miso at the bottom, meaning it wasn't even stirred properly. I might understand if the place was busy, but we were the only customers there. Ate dinner here tonight with a few lovely people. The food was wonderful - compliments to the chefs. They mark their menus really well here to display vegan options, which we really appreciate. There aren't too many restaurants in the area to choose from that have such solid vegan options. I'd highly recommend the Vegan Ramen with some spice on the side to customize to your preferred level. You really can't go wrong with anything on the menu though, it's full of many tasty options. Maliah took care of us tonight and was incredibly kind and thoughtful. The staff was incredibly sweet and attentive, the food came out fast, and everything was delicious. They even surprised me by discounting one of my rolls and the mochi I ordered 🥹 That little gesture honestly made my day. If you’re looking for a place with great service, good vibes, and thoughtful staff, this is it. Thank you for making my solo date feel like a celebration ✨

Had a great first experience. The food was above average and Maliah was truly a great server, she made the entire experience. I certainly will be back.
