I had read about Highpoint in a magazine. I like the concept. It was fine dining with a dress up atmosphere in an old mansion. I made reservations months ago. That was an easy process, but you have to call. There are no confirmations from the first phone call until you show up for your meal. please make sure you note the time and date of your reservation. We had so it was no problem just making a note. It was a cold rainy night when we showed up. I was dressed in a fine dress and my husband in a suit. we were definitely overdressed. Per the newspaper or magazine article. It indicated that that was the preferred dress. Per their website, it indicated they preferred dressy attire. Most of the gentlemen were in jeans and cowboy boots. I think I was the only woman in dress. The food was ve
Don’t go here for the food. We eat out A LOT and travel all over the south. We we underwhelmed with everything. The rolls were hard and difficult to chew. The ribeye was a tad overdone, maybe because it was pretty thin? The baked potato and salad were okay. They let my picky husband order fried chicken tenders, which weren’t on the menu and we thought that was great. The tenders were juicy but didn’t have much flavor. I did think the drinks were pretty good. Overall we thought it was a cute little place to experience once but for the price the food should knock purple socks off. You are paying almost double here for the ambiance only in my opinion. There was a nice waitress that caught us dancing after we ate and took some pictures for us. We did not get the name of our waitress because sh
Food was great. Service was good however expected more of a experience I guess. Waitress didn’t have any enthusiasm personality. Rolls were awesome, steak shrimp meal awesome, Alfredo good but nothing outstanding good size portion, salads goods and good size portion for being side w meal and lobster bisque soups was good.
We visited High Point recently to celebrate our Wedding Anniversary. We had a dinner reservation. Upon arriving, they seated us promptly. The old restaurant is large with many dining rooms. 2 floors of dining rooms. It’s a pretty campus with lots of trees & outdoor lighting. There’s a large lit garden area with patio seating-enough for groups even. Our service was impeccable. Excellent! There are lots of original menus choices. We each enjoyed salads, Halibut, with a side. We shared Crème Brûlée 🍮 for dessert. Our dinner was delicious. It was a wonderful evening. Excellent experience all the way around!! We look forward to going again.
I have been dining at High Point for at least 15 years. At one point it was considered an upscale fine dining experience, but not any more, it has changed. On our recent visit, the food was underwhelming at best - dishes that once felt carefully crafted now tasted rushed, cold and mediocre. Presentation lacked attention to detail that it was once known for. Even more disappointing was the service. What was once polished and attentive felt inattentive and disorganized. Simple requests were overlooked, timing was off, and there was little if any warmth or professionalism that used to define the establishment. Our waitress knew nothing about the history of the home, was short, forgot drinks, had an attituded and was clearly indifferent to our dining experience, yet still expected a 20% t
