Probably the Top 1 Dim Sum place I have ever tried in the U.S. Fabulous vibe instantly brings you back to the Republican Era. They not only make authentic dim sum but also offer a few special ones that I haven’t seen in other places. Plus, you will be shocked by their price!!! Highly recommend!
A friend of mine who is Cantonese wanted Chinese food but he did not want us to travel to Flushing. We read the review on Trip Advisor. Three gave it excellent ratings and 1 gave it average or in other words 4 reviews and not much of a sampling. Actually the reviews had no detail just the basic reviews of food, the space etc Nothing that gave you much to go on. We went. There is no WOW factor and nothing memorable but it’s in the neighborhood and I do want them to succeed. The service is ok and maybe a tad chaotic. I think the young men are nice and try to do well but there is no congeniality and I think part of the problem might be lack of staff. Maybe a staff member called in sick or it’s lack of training which means that’s a managerial issue. We still have no idea why things were ser
This place has great reviews, so since I was in the neighborhood, I decided to check it out. The food was just okay. The soup dumplings were mediocre, and the chicken chow fun was fine but a bit bland. Ironically, the best thing I had was the jasmine tea. The most disappointing part, however, was the service — or rather, the lack of it. The restaurant was nearly empty, yet it took a long time to get a waiter’s attention just to place my order. Dirty dishes were left piling up and were only cleared after I finished eating and paid. There was no one around to even ask for a napkin. I dislike leaving a small tip, but the staff’s attitude felt as though they were doing customers a favor by being there. Given the service, it was hard to justify tipping at all.
The food here is okay. None of the food we ordered came hot. Most of it was slightly warm or room temp. Portions are small for the prices. The pan fried dumplings here are good. Well filled and not too doughy. I would come here and just order a few serving of the pan fried dumplings. They are superior to the soup dumplings, which you can skip. I like that they serve both steamed and crispy roast pork buns but they weren't hot. The beef chow fun is tasty. I would recommend it. And the Chinese broccoli is delicious. This restaurant can randomly get very busy. Make a reservation if you can.
Walking into HEY YUET feels like stepping through a time capsule straight to 1950s Hong Kong warm lights, vintage décor, and the comforting aroma of freshly steamed dim sum. Great aesthetic and an extensive menu featuring authentic Cantonese cuisine.
