Herlong Mansion

Read that Herlong Mason was beautifully decorated for Xmas and that Micanopy also was very Christmasy. Booked for 12/28 and 12/29 after texting our enthusiasm about looking at the decorations. The mansion is beautiful and the azalea room was large and well appointed. the proprietor did not seem welcoming. We explored Micanopy that afternoon which is just one street with about 8 antique store and a cafe and expected a decorated town and Mansion. We were disappointed that the Christmas lights were present but not turned on. that night we ate at Pearl Country store which is simply a convenience store connected to a gas station. Surprise! Took a long weekend getaway for fun! Stayed at the Herlong Mansion had had a wonderful experience. The building, grounds and staff were wonderful. Great to see the owner, Kim, so involved in ensuring her guests had a super experience. Micanopy is a true Florida "old" town - everyone friendly and kind. Big plus in Payne's Prairie State Park; can't miss this place!

Beautiful Venue, Disappointing Experience The property is gorgeous, but the owner’s lack of professionalism made what should have been a joyful wedding weekend far more stressful than it needed to be. We used this bed and breakfast as both our lodging and the venue for my son’s wedding. When my son and future daughter-in-law first visited, they fell in love with the property — it’s truly charming, with beautiful grounds and an elegant mansion that seemed perfect for an intimate celebration. We stayed in the Carriage House - adjacent to the main house. It was so quiet and the bed very comfortable. The service was terrific as was the breakfast. We booked here to be close to the bike trails in the area and it was a great choice. Thanks for the super nice things like soft sheets and towels that smell clean :)

My daughter's wedding was recently held here. The grounds were lovely, the rooms were very clean. The breakfast was delicious. However, I would not recommend anyone having their wedding here. Kim is very difficult to work with. She would say one thing and then change it later. She would agree to what we wanted and then later act like she had no idea what we were talking about. One minute she would be very rude, then the next minute she would try to be very sweet. All of the guests who had an interaction with her complained to us about how rude she was. At one point in my conversation with her she said "don't look at me like that", I had no idea I had offened her with my face but she offended me because she said that in front of other guests and there was no reason for that.
