Hazel Park City Public Works

UPDATE!! Tom, thank you for your prompt attention. I appreciate all you and your crew do for our wonderful city. I have been in communication with Tom at Hazel Park DPW since February 2019 about my sidewalk flooding since it was replaced a year ago. Tom informed me in February 2019 that when the weather breaks he would have work done to level the dirt at the curb to try to eleviate the flooding and ice issue. In May 2019 Tom asked me to be patient that they are very busy. I have not heard from Tom nor seen any attempt to address this issue. I really would appreciate this being resolved before the summer is over.

My mom lives in Hazel Park and last summer received the notification about the sidewalk replacement program that was requiring homeowners to pay for their sidewalk to be replaced. She ended up spending a few thousand dollars to do so and they not only did not fix the issue of the sidewalk flooding (and icing over in the winter), they proceeded to cut all her sprinkler lines. At the time, the contractors, who did the work, stated they would reach out to her this year to get the sprinkler lines fixed but have yet to do so.

Our recycle bin was passed up on our regular garbage pickup day, I called Hazel Park DPW Tuesday, was told they would send a message, not picked up. Called again Wednesday told the same thing they would send a message again still no pickup, called again Thursday same thing a message would be sent, next called GFL, was told that no missed Pickup was sent in, so she creates one, I received a text, it is now Friday night at 7 and the recycle bin still has not been emptied, who else can I call or do I literally have to wait til the next garbage day. This is very poor service.

I've had a few issues with trash pickup, etc. And when I can't get a resolution by contact Soccra, I'm happy that HP DPW bends over backwards to try to make it right. Overall, I think the services provided by Hazel Park are very community friendly. Happy to have these guys in our city.
