I liked this a lot!!! The chicken and goat cheese one (#12) was delicious. It’s my no means a dosa you’d find in Mumbai, but it’s a totally delicious newyorkified dosa. The breakfast dosa was $15 and MASSIVE. You could for sure share one if you’re not too hungry. I’d guess there’s 4 eggs in there? The dosa is very crispy if you eat it there. I liked the cilantro chutney a lot. More than I expected. The mango chutney is good it’s just not what I want with a savory dosa. It’s like “wait why did I put jam on my egg crepe?” All their dosa are gluten free. Yay! They have soups, $1.50 cookies, gluten free (packaged) brownies, a kids menu, mango lassi, etc.
I love this place. The food is consistently amazing, and the cardamom coffee is hands down my favorite coffee ever. I first discovered it in the Hamptons, so I was genuinely excited to see they’ve opened a location in the city. It’s rare when something you love outside the city actually translates this well here but this absolutely does.
Good: a fast food style large dosa. Located in a good spot. Good variety of options. Good service and speed. Americanized dosa, if you’re open to it. Bad: Served without sambhar (but option of chutney is provided so that’s good!) dosa loses lot of its flavor and meaning. Undercooked dosa itself (soft, not crispy), perhaps in a rush for speed. Filling was excessive and had too much onion. My dosa had a potato piece without its skin removed, which would be fine if it was by design. If you’re craving a dosa and first time trying, it’s a pretty decent spot! But needs some work to be authentic which I think the team would be open to working on. My suggestion would be to bring in a South Indian as part of the management and cooking team to fix the gaps properly. Need to give another try perh
Hampton Chutney is back in the city and literally the BEST thing that could happen. Same OG chef making perfectly thin crispy dosas w an abundance of yummy toppings. I felt great joy enjoying my 1st HC dosa last week. Will keep coming back for more ✨💞
I’m writing this as I’m working on my curry chicken chutney dosa I gotta say it’s amazing!!. The chicken is tender and delicious the curry sauce itself is perfect and not too salty!. The staff is pretty cool and service is pretty quick as well!!. I’ve never tried this place previously but again it’s pretty amazing!!.
