Hal's Hamburgers

February 21, 2026 11:45 am I never knew about this place until this morning. I’m on a FlixBus ride (due to a breakdown in La Grande, Oregon and this part of town is one of the stops. The store next door (76 gas station/Pendleton Market) said I should try them!out as they are highly recommended. It was a small burger but it was made fast, service was friendly and it tasted good. I’ll check them out again on future trips.

I was really impressed with this place! I ordered the Triple Decker Cheeseburger along with a large fry. Since the burger was under $10 I was expecting it to be a rip-off like so many spots are nowadays, but boy was I wrong! The burger was big, filling, and delicious, and the large fry was a great portion too. I'm a pig and even I got full! Definitely a bang for your buck here, and I left very happy with my purchase. I went out to eat a few times this Labor Day weekend but this spot ended up being my favorite.

How's is pretty much a drive-thru only restaurant. They do have some tables outside but to get the food you'll have to for the drive-thru. The food was good. But you can expect to wait while they do cook it as everything is cooked to order.

Unbelievable terrible Service. Staying at a hotel, been on the road all day. Wanted a good burger through drive thru. The rest of the family got different things. They gave us our food and we drove to hotel. Once we got in room, we realized they didn’t give us the big finger steak basket dinner. We called them on the phone they said can you drive over we said yes, so we drove all the way back over and then they gave us a hard time and told us that we needed to bring all the other food back in order to prove that they didn’t give us the finger steaks dinner. In disbelief. We paid and they would not give us the food we paid for…

Vintage drive thru with lots of shaded area to pull over and enjoy a quick meal. 5 star on the shakes. Nice thick shake using real ingredients (no fake banana here) and they actually give you a jumbo fat straw. Perfection. Burger was solid and would get again. Cheese sticks were WAY too heavily breaded to float my boat. I’ll be back but I’ll pass on the sides. Staff is super friendly and helpful. They even made a snack for our pooch since he’s on a diet. No sit down serve. Take out only.
