Gus’s World Famous Fried Chicken

I had a few late nights at the side project cellar during their stout week and had a craving for fried chicken. This is a fantastic restaurant. Was able to dine in and get a table very quickly. The fried chicken is fantastic and so is the mac & cheese. Will recommend this place time and time again because not only is it phenomenal fried chicken, but it is also celiac friendly. Insider tip, try the fried catfish.

About a year ago, they quietly tested fish on Fridays and Saturdays. It sold so well they said forget the weekends—run it every day. So yes, you can walk into Gus’s any day they’re open and get you some fish without waiting for the weekend. They also tested out corn nuggets, and those made the cut too. Holy cow! I’ve been looking for the best Fried Chicken in STL — and Gus’s is the best I’ve tried so far! Everything was absolutely DELICIOUS. My pickup order was made super quickly, the food was hot and the staff was friendly. The Dark Meat Plate was perfect. The chicken was crispy and seasoned so well, and the sides were excellent as well. Let’s talk about those sides: sweet, tangy coleslaw and tender baked beans. OMG they were almost as good as the chicken!! We will be back. ASAP!!

The food is 5 stars, the Service is 0 when I walked in to get my food for carry out. I went in to pick up my food at about 7pm last night on 02/14/26 the skinny chick with dreads was on her phone talking to someone on speaker looking at me going back n forth to the kitchen 5 minutes go by she still hasn't asked me anything. As soon as a woman walks in that doesnt even get in line stands to the left of me [mind you ive already been here 5 minutes] she walks over to her first ask her what she needs. I was baffled she skipped over over me knowingly I was already there standing patiently waiting for my food I could see sitting there on the counter. Luckily the woman said "this man was here before me" or I would of said something. You need to fix this because it is not a good look. DO BETTER .

Had to try this after hearing all about it! Food - 4/5 Fried Chicken - 4/5 - The fried chicken was so crispy! Really liked it, but note, if you don’t like dry chicken, you won’t like it. It’s not saucy at all. Coleslaw - 4.5/5 - loved the coleslaw, it was so creamy! Fries - 4.5/5 - perfectly fried, they were so fresh and really good Ambiance - 4/5 - just a casual spot for fried chicken Service - 5/5 - my waitress was so friendly and attentive, really appreciated the good service!
